Contact Us-the Genre Library will be the place for this, so all Contact Us/Comments etc links should be directed here. This should be looked at frequently and we can keep each other posted if the q is something one person can answer.

The Group Index-you want to use this area for Portal Administrators to post their updates? It is agreed that we need some way for administrators to post updates and comments and concerns, etc.

Portal Administration: Duties include making an effort to update at least once a month, posting all genre related groups on their portal, posting the sentence link to the Informational Notes.

Also-The Notes that I've created that are titled Tests-if we are going to use those then Retitle them, then link to them.

They can be edited and added to-they are not "Absolute" nor "Complete"

The Drafts-we should keep those up and available for everyone to add to if they have ideas about what should go into the completed or absolute Informational notes.

Something else regarding Notes

Using a Universal Theme for titles-so they aren't so unorganized, cuz we of course are organizational freaks.....ok, so maybe you aren't but i am for some reason, lol..

Some ideas:
HTML Code: Portal Name: Whatever ~or~ HTML Code_Portal Name_Whatever
~or~
Portal Name: Descrptive Word: Descriptive Word
Tutorial_Descriptive Word_Created by

etc.-you get the gist of it i'm sure.....the main thing would be to have the first section of the title be the Master Descriptive word, so when looking at the note list-all html code is by each other, all the tutorials are by each other, etc.

These ideas are all coming from a discussion Meow Meow and I were having yesterday-they are not all my ideas, thank you though!

Yeah-portal operators only as admins, could get really crazy around here otherwise.

Titles for Notes-as far as i know-this has only been discussed, not put into practice yet-so we can always go through and change titles when we decide on the format.

hehe, yeah, that is true. the idea behind that was as an extension of the SciFi Portal, i know Meow Meow was looking into some features w/using it, not as an open to the "public" group center.

Ok-So I just found a prob with the Formating of the Notes names. Guess you can't change the name, even if you edit the note. That sucks.

I'm going to go work in that section for a bit, unless the scheduled downtime interferes... I don't know how much I can be on this weekend, got a lot of other stuff to do, but will check in periodically. Things are looking really good around here & the new portals are rockin!

BTW, I sent a few strategic notes to Netflix members that seem pretty involved and might make good admins... hopefully we'll see one or two of 'um here.
I guess it's OK that there hasn't been any critical mass yet b/c all this organizational stuff should be more in place to help guide people.
So Cynder & I were talking about each coordinating one of the 2 indexes. Well I was thinking that a good official '3rd co-chair' position might be a page along the lines of a 'The Welcome Wagon'. The responsibilities would involve greeting new admins and making sure they know set up the portal etc..., maybe greeting new members making sure they are getting the help they need..., and other public relations activities? (like things like involve initiating contact, rather than responding to it).
I dunno, but I was thinking about you Pooh and how your really good at that (one of your many talents). I notice that you have a knack for writing in a familial and fun tone -very friendly and accessible...

RE: admin status, I just noticed that you guys don't have the option to promote or demote members.

There are currently a few people with admin power that are not running a portal, most of them have expressed some interest in doing so. Really though, they don't need admin status to make a portal, and (your right Pooh) we probably should wait to promote those who have designed one.
The thing is, is a think I already told these people that i gave them admin status when they joined and I feel bad demoting them :( i don't want them to feel dumped or excluded -especially if they are just busy and still planning to work on a portal.

These are the in betweens:
Chad Was a MOAG mod, joined the site when I told him about the new efforts. He has computer skills and put some organizational effort forth in the last project but I haven't heard from him since he joined.
Film Grrrl My understanding last time we spoke was that she was going to do the Independent portal - I'm assuming that's still the case?
Ginger Snapcookie Is going to work with me on some Sci-Fi stuff at some point...

I demoted BJM & Grand Nagus. Do you think I should demote anyone else?

If you've already admined some people, that's ok-i'd feel bad demoting too. Perhaps if the above were to decide in the future not to do a portal, then do it, but otherwise, it shouldn't do any harm right now.
