How To: Become A Portal Administrator

You too can be a Portal Administrator!

Are you are group creator, or are you are regular and consistent contributor to the Netflix Community?

THEN JOIN THE TEAM & HELP US CREATE THE GENRE PORTALS.
No special skills or experience required!
We are all just helping each other and learning as we go along.

The following Genres need are in need of a portal:

• A, B, C: All-Genre Groups
• Action & Adventure
• Comedy
• Documentary
• Dramas
• Family
• Foreign
• Independent & Art House Cinema: *Film Grrrl*?
• Location, Location, Location: groups defined by specific places
• Music & Musicals
• People: anything related to individuals (actors, directors, producers, hotties, etc.) See the LGBT & Adult Portal for a comprehensive list.
• Special Interest: groups with a specific and narrow range of focus, unique subgenres or aspects of film that are not captured by traditional broad genres.
• Titles of Specific Films: titles of individual films or film franchises.
• Television: both specific shows and general television.
• Thriller, Mystery, & Suspense
• X, Y, Z: Social groups, activities, or categories of information. Not defined solely by movies and/or genres. *Wowwee*?

Find one you are interested in? Just follow these steps:

1. Sign in using your Ning ID (same email & password) -no need to create another one.

2. Visit the Genre Library to get a sense of each genre, choose the one that you want and then start creating your very own Portal.

3. Fill out your profile page with your NF Community Identity so we know who you are.  Also RENAME your identity in Dorky Cool so that It notifies us as which Genre You are choosing (this will = the name of your portal). Don't forget to choose a new avatar picture to represent your genre.

4. Finally HAVE FUN with your portal.  Add your own flairs, widgets, gadgets, etc. Pages may include other related genres, groups, or links.Visit some of the completed Portals: LGBT & Adult, Horror, Sci-Fi, and Portal to the Past to get new ideas.

oh and # 5.  Don't be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS if you need any help or want to know how we did something. We are all helping each other figure it out as we go along. Also see Help with HTML code.

6. Once finished with designing your portal, save your work (the HTML you see while editing the page) into the 'notes' section. Title the note "HTMLCode: (name of your portal here)".
