Instructions on creating your custom badge

Step 2: Custom Badge

WHAT IS A CUSTOM BADGE?
It is a direct link to your portal.

WHY MAKE A CUSTOM BADGE?
Users will be accessing this directory from the Netflix Community site, not from a direct address; they need these links to connect to your portal
This badge should be posted into relevant locations (such as, the groups your portal features).
For all practical purposes, it will appear to the user that they are simply viewing a directory on the same site -not exploring a new one.

To Begin:

1.    Go to the get more badges page

*NOTE!: Do NOT click on 'customize' and alter badge & text colors. These changes will be universal; the colors selected are neutral so that they will work with everyone's avatar.*

2.    Type in your custom text such "Enter the xxxxxx Portal"

3.    Now click on the button that says 'Copy HTML code'

Your code should look something like this:

4.    Paste the code to a document where you can alter it.

5.    Delete the last 2 lines of code, unless you want a badge, with text below that reads "See my site on DorkyCool".
The lines you want to erase look like this:

6.    Change the width of the badge to make room for your custom text. Look for the section of code that says: width="206". Edit the number 206 to a higher number that supports the length of your custom text.
This will vary for each portal title. You can test your length: Type in your best guess, copy the code, paste it into the comment wall on your own page, and then click 'add comment'. This will allow you to see how the code will appear to others.

7. Copy your finished badge code & save it as a note. Title the note as: Portal Name: Badge Code
